WHITE - THROATED SPARROW . Ashy . brown , streaked with bay and black , above ; crown , with three white and 1 yellow stripes ; chin , white ; beneath , ash , unstreaked . Length , 6 1 - 2 inches . Common migrant . Earliest arrival , April 22nd ; seen again in September and October . Feeds on seeds , etc . Not injurious . Notes , sweet and clear , sounding like “ pea - hody . ”
