PIPING PLOVER . Above , very pale ash ; beneath , white ; a black bar across the crown , and a black , incomplete ring about the neck , in the male ; a white band across the back of the neck . Length , under 7 inches . One instance . A small flock at Adams ' pond , May , 1884 . Mr . C . R . Kenfield .
